2014 Lunar Year of the Horse 1kg Silver Gemstone Edition

This year's Gemstone Edition from the Australian Lunar Series II celebrates the horse, the seventh of the twelve animals associated with the ancient Chinese Lunar Calendar.
In Chinese culture, people born in the Year of the Horse - 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002 and 2014 - are regarded as hardworking, sociable, optimistic and energetic.
A superb gift or collectable, the coin is meticulously struck by The Perth Mint from one kilo of 99.9% pure silver. Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, no more than 5,000 coins will be issued worldwide.
DESIGN
The coin's reverse depicts two coloured horses standing within a stylised Chinese landscape. One horse has a stunning white diamond set in one of its eyes. The Chinese character for 'horse' and the inscription 'Year of the Horse' also appear in the design with The Perth Mint's traditional 'P' mintmark.
The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2014 year-date and the monetary denomination are shown on the obverse of each coin.
PRESENTATION
The Year of the Horse Gemstone Edition coin is housed in a black and red presentation case and custom-designed shipper, accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
